v11.04 to v12.08
----------------
LICENSE CHANGED: Now licensed under a more liberal MIT License.
A license change was necessary to enable embedding engines in users applications
without restrictive conditions of the GPL.

New Features/Improvements:
Changes to engines to allow embedding an engine in host applications using any
of the supported GUI toolkits.
Improved setup.py installation script adding PTK menu item.
New toolbars implemented should give better macos support and dropdown menu items.
Added kill engine options (right click on engine tab)
Added ctrl+enter to enter multi-line commands
Added run script options:
    - run in current engine
    - run in new engine
    - run as external process including a new script console to redirect stdIO
from the new process and hyperlinks to source files on exceptions.

Internal changes:
Improved setup.py script.
Changed MessageBus system to simplify code and allow engines/console to be subclasses of clients/nodes
Added: subscribe to parent subjects via e.g. 'Subject.subsubject' subcribers can subscribe to the full subject or just 'Subject'

Fixes:
Fixed bug when exiting/saving layouts with editor or console minimised or
maximised.
Possible fix for bug when installing on windows with unicode usernames /
non-english locales.

v10.10 to v11.04
----------------
New Features/Improvements:

1) New integrated debugger.
2) Stopping running code - keyboard interupt added to allow running code to be
  stopepd even if not debugging
3) Added PySide (Qt4) engine.

Internal changes:

Rewriten engine/message system - combine engine/message communications to
allow engines to directly publish/send messages and allow debugger
implementation. Engines/console can now be started externally (i.e. remote
engines or engines embedded into a user's application).

Changed application structure to be installed as a python package. User
applications can now embed a PTK engine which can be controlled by the PTK
application.

v10.07 to v10.10
----------------
New Features/Improvements:

1) Added Exporter system - objects selection dialog and save to file dialog with
automatic file name generation based on object name, counter, date and timestamp

2) Added Importer system - available from NSBrowser and console window menu.

3) Changed pathmanager to use same working directory for all engines (the old
behaviour was to change the control to match cwd when engines were switched -
but this was annoying and could be confusing to beginners)

4) Moved Numpy support to 'Numpy suport pack' tool to demonstrate the extension
interfaces available to add python package/module support.
Added array icon and viewer for memory mapped arrays.

5) Minor changes in NSBrowser - type displayed now shows 'module.type_name' to
more fully describe the object type (if for example a type with the same name
is defined in different modules). Added Action object interface.

6) Changed default engine to wxExternal.

Internal changes:
Simplified tool structure removing TypeRegistry. Interfaces moved to NSBrowser
and a new Views tool to handle GUI viewers.

Fixes:
bug in StdIn from console.
bug in StdErr (internal engine / application).

selected on windowsXP.

v10.04 to v10.07
----------------
New Features/Improvements:

1) Added new gui toolkit engines
GTKExternal - Allowing interactive use of the pygtk libary
Qt4External - Allowing interacive use of the pyQt4 libary.
2) Modified engines to shutdown cleanly when crashed. Also added exit/quit
commands to replace python builtins to shutdown engine cleanly.
3) Modified engines to allow gui updates when reading user input (i.e. input /
    raw_input)
4) Add engine enviroment options:
        - to use the __future__ imports (division etc)
        - to execute the python startup script specified by the environmental
            variable PYTHONSTARTUP found in Preferences>EngineManager
5) Added view('objname') command to engines to open a gui view of the object.
6) Editor recent documents list

Internal changes:

1) Major internal revision everything but the toolmanager and messenger are
Tools! This allows individual components to be isolated making it easier to
maintain and potential for autoupdate
2) Changed to either use wx.lib.agw.aui or wx.aui to take advantage of recent
changes (currently still using wx.aui as it is more stable, and lib.agw.aui has
problems with layouts)
3) Messenger rewrite to simplify/improve structure.

Fixes:

Fixed pause/resume/cancel problem - when canceling a paused command, the engines
paused state was not updated so following commands could not be paused.
Fixed pasting into console to remove prompts if included.
Address control modified to update autocomplete list correctly.
Fixed engine switching when busy - status bar not updating.
EngineManager execption on shutdown when waiting for threads to finish.
Fixed EngineManger reporting Tk engine as available on Ubuntu.

    clear()                 -         clears the console
edit('filename') - open the filename in the ptk editor
inspect('objectname') - inpsect the object in the Inspector tool
3) New engine: TkExternal - engine running in external process with a Tcl/Tk gui
mainloop allowing interactive use of the Tkinter module.
4) New improved Inpsector tool - shows information depending on object type,
including (where applicable) doscsting, call arguments, constructor arguments,
constructor dosctring, source file (with icon to open file in editor), and
source.
5) Added help tips to startup and help menus.

Internal changes:

1) Modified engine interface to allow extensions and simplify structure

Fixes:

External engines no longer import gui modules that are not required and use less
memory.
Another Unicode bug in console.
Modifications to external engines to avoid noticable lag on linux (also improves
winXP performance).
Command history caused program to fail to start if history file was not present
(now creates file).
Run code (option from editor/command history) no longer assumes more to come at
console prompt and runs it immediately.

----------------
New Features/Improvements:

1)Added wxPython external engine.
2)Program preferences dialog - added console options for engines to autostart,
display line numbers, calltips and autocompletions.
3)Revised/simplified command history - ctrl+up / ctrl+down will cycle through
the history. If a partial command is typed crtl+up / crtl+down will cycle
through the matching commands. Command history is stored to disk between
sesssions.
4) Namespace Browser:
Added GUI views of objects - doubling clicking on objects with a registered
viewer will open a new pane to display the object.
Current views are : String & unicode view, ndarray and list.
Views will update when item changes value or type
New views for object types can be added by Tools.
Added custom Type info strings - Tools can customise the string shown for
object types in the info column of the Namespace browser. The numpy array
example shows the size and dtype of the array rather than the default string.

Internal changes:

1)Further simplification of internal structure to support multiple python
engines (interpreters).

Fixes:

Fixed NSBrowser/Inspector and PathManager to update when engine switching.
Fixed NSbrowser double click on empty space error
console ExecSource message handler now shows the console if hidden.
